The director's tip: the invisible smile
As a voice director, there is one technique we use a lot in the studio, and we are happy to share it as a tip. A voice actor who physically smiles while speaking instantly sounds warmer and more approachable. This is no myth. The shape of the mouth changes the resonance of the vocal cords. Even with a business script, a subtle, physical smile can make the difference between a cold announcement and a friendly invitation.
Our Flemish voices, like Mark or Julie, use these techniques every day. They know exactly how to modulate their voice to set the desired mood. We hear this in our clients' feedback too. For example, Masoud gave us a 5 out of 5 rating and wrote: "Voices.be helped us quickly and professionally to record high-quality audio for our telephone system."
Clear rates and rights
When booking a voice actor, it is important to have complete clarity on costs upfront. That is why we use a transparent pricing structure. For a commercial production, like a radio ad or online advert, you pay a fixed basic fee for the studio recording, plus a buy-out. This buy-out covers the usage rights for the voice, depending on the medium where the recording will be heard and the campaign's duration.
For non-commercial projects, like an internal e-learning course or an instructional video, we use rates calculated per word or per project. This means you always know exactly where you stand, with no surprises afterwards.
